2017 NOMAD Race Schedule
Pre Race events will begin on the 1st of June. The race will occur from June 2nd - June 4th. Details are below.
June 1st, 2017 - Pre Race Events
1:00 PM - Check-In and Map Distribution Opens
Check-in will be at the Cheyenne Mountain Resort inside the Centennial Conference Room.

The Centennial Conference Room is a large room where racers will be able to bring and organize gear if they desire. There will be some tables for studying maps.

4:30 PM - Bus Loads and Leaves for Racers Participating in Prologue
The prologue result times will be used to determine which teams are paired up together for the rafting section
of the race. Teams will be paired up according to their finishing time. For example: The teams with the first and second fastest time trial times will be paired together, then the 3rd and 4th fastest teams will be paired together, and so on.
The prologue must be performed with your entire team present. Come prepared to possibly get muddy (bring a towel), bring your headlamp and/or flashlight, and running shoes. The prologue is optional (but we HIGHLY recommend it because it's a $100 value and super cool experience). If you do not care who you are boating with, you do not have to perform the prologue.
The prologue is located at Cave of the Winds in Manitou Springs, Colorado along the cliff-side of Williams Canyon.
Teams can drive themselves if they wish, so they can leave Cave of the Winds as soon as they finish, rather than waiting for the bus once everyone is finished. Racers are encouraged to bring their race maps to plan their route in the event that there is down time while waiting for other teams to finish the prologue. There are indoor tables and chairs at this location. The bus will return to Cheyenne Mountain Resort by bus after everyone has completed the prologue.
8:00 PM - Racer Meeting for Overview & Questions in Centennial Conference Room
Meeting time may be pushed back if prologue runs later. Meeting is in Centennial Conference Room, the same as check-in.
8:30 PM - 10:00 PM - Gear Drop Off At Trucks (Bike, and Gear Bins)
There are 2 trucks. They will be parked at or near the main entrance of the resort. One is for your bikes, and one is for your gear bins that will be at the transition areas.
Bike Drop: Label all bikes with your team name. Load bikes into the bike moving truck. Put bike helmet, all bike gear and water bottles in your gear bins, please, for this first bike drop.
Gear Drop: Load Gear Bins into Moving Truck. Label all team gear bins with your team name. Gear bins can have a maximum of 25 gallon capacity. If you can use a smaller gear bin, we'd love you for it. You may have 1 gear bin per team member.
**Maintain your Leg 1 Rafting Items. Do not include these items in the gear drop. After 10:00 pm on Thursday you will not see your gear bin or your bikes until Transition Area 1 following the rafting on Friday.**
June 2nd, 2017 - Race Day
4:00 - 5:30 AM - Check any non-race luggage with Cheyenne Mountain Resort
If you need to store non-race gear during the race, you can check personal bags for post-race with the front desk at Cheyenne Mountain Resort until after race. This luggage will be kept in a secure, locked room and can only be unlocked by lodge staff.
6:00 AM - Racers Load Buses at Resort Entrance
6:15 AM - 7:30 AM - Bus Ride to Race Start
7:30 AM - Arrive at American Adventure Expeditions, bathroom break, get outfitted for rafting gear, do guide and safety talks.
8:30 AM - Race Start
June 4th, 2017 - Race End
8:30 AM - Race Cut-off
Racers must finish by 8:30 AM on the 4th or risk losing 1 Checkpoint for every 5 minutes late.
The race finish is located in the grassy area just west of Fountain Creek Lodge. See the picture above.
Once finished, gather your gear, get cleaned up, rest a bit, and join us for the post-race party!
Noon - Post Race Party, Awards, Raffle, and Video in Centennial Conference Room
This year, the post race party will be in the same conference room as the check-in. It is located in the Cheyenne Mountain Resort Main Lodge (near main entrance). We'll be announcing winners and winning times, giving out awards, raffling off some gear from our sponsors and our media crew will play a highlight reel from the race. Come join us; it should be a fun time!
For those of you who will be leaving following the race, plan on leaving the resort no sooner than 2 pm. Any sooner and you might miss something fun.
