Learn the Sport of Adventure Racing

  • GEAR:  If you need help finding the right gear, check out Adventure Gear Review
  • Orienteering: Through the Rocky Mountain Orienteering Club, you can learn from some of the best how to find your way around in the wilderness. These are a great bunch of people who put on low cost, high quality events. Their website also has some great resources, and they will help teach you the sport when you attend their events. Their events feature beginner level to expert level and national championship races.
  • Mountain biking: get out and ride! There are a ton of great people to meet up with. Utilize the Front Range Adventure Racing Club on Facebook and Pikes Peak Sports mountain biking page to link up with some local experts. There are tons of great guide books out for the area, and you can do a simple web search for proper mountain biking technique. We can recommend Criterium Bicycle Shop as a great place for all your mountain biking needs. They've got some tremendous riders there!
  • Trail Running: get out and run! You can also utilize the Front Range Adventure Racing Club on Facebook and Pikes Peak Sports trail running page to link up with some local experts. Of course, we can always recommend our favorite running shops for some expert advice, too.
  • Kayaking: Our very own Chelsea is an incredible kayaking instructor. In her younger years, she qualified for the Junior Olympics in whitewater slalom kayaking. Her instruction rate is $55/hr, which can be divided by up to four people.
